Qatar Olympic Academy has signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Culture and Sports to enhance the concept of training, qualification and professional development of national cadres in sports clubs and organisations, to achieve the aspirations of Qatar National Vision 2030 and the National Development Goals in the related fields of sport. The agreement was signed by Executive Director of Qatar Olympic Academy Saif al-Nuaimi and the Director of the Sports Affairs Department at the Ministry Isa al-Harami. Al-Nuaimi said the Academy was pleased to sign the agreement with the Ministry of Culture and Sports as an initiative for the academy to enter the scope of training in the sports sectors in the country. 'The academy will provide many training courses with the Ministry of Culture and Sports and will announce in the coming days a set of courses in co-ordination with the ministry to accommodate the number of trainees, he said. Al-Nuaimi indicated that the academy has a special agenda and a programme in sports education management, which is adopted by the International Olympic Committee.nbsp; 'The academy has an annual agenda, and the new sessions with the ministry will be within a special calendar for the Academy and will be in co-ordination with the ministry, he added. Meanwhile, al-Harami said that these courses will cover all the sports sector, whether clubs or federations such as bowling, chess, billiards and snooker. He said the courses will be free of charge for employees and affiliates of Qatari clubs.

  • Qatar Olympic Academy

Qatar Olympic Academy has concluded the first edition of the Arab Trainers Program - foundation level, which was established by the Academy as the first certified version of Olympic solidarity in the International Olympic Committee, after the two experimental versions held several years ago.

Twenty-six coaches representing fourteen nationalities participated in this three-month program, which included theoretical lectures, research studies and practical application, including sports such as basketball, volleyball, football, athletics and swimming.

The program aims to identify the scientific concepts and basic principles in training, and methods of measurement and evaluation in the field of sports, in addition to identify the evaluation of physical and skill numbers programs in several sports offered in the program.

Doha: Qatar Olympic Academy (QOA) yesterday hosted Education and Olympic Movement Development Seminar, attended by a large number of sports dignitaries at Al Gharafa Sports Club.

Shekih Sauod bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Assistant to the President of Amiri Diwan, James McCloud, International Olympic Committee, Director of the Department of Relations with National Olympic Committees and Olympic Solidarity and Husain Al Musallam, the Director-General of Olympic Council of Asia, were among the speakers.

They highlighted the importance of education and Olympic movement development and also spoke about Qatar’s contribution towards promotion of sports in the region.

Earlier, Jassim Rashid Al Buainain, Secretary-General of Qatar Olympic Committee and President of QOA gave the opening speech.
